The Death of Papa is a published, but heretofore unproduced, play that concludes the nine-play series Horton Foote calls "The Orphans' Home Cycle."
The Death of Papa is set in the fictional East Texas town of Harrison in 1928. A family
saga which traces how its members deal with their patriarch's unexpected
death, the play is a beautiful exploration of their struggles to ensure
the future well-being of the family and land.
