A Magical Mystical Adventure Nothing
is impossible, some things are just a lot tougher than others. Take, for
example, the vile dungeon fortress of Aquila. No one has ever escaped that
dank hellhole, NO one, that is, except diminutive pickpocket Phillipe "The
Mouse" Gaston (Matthew Broderick). By his wile--and a stroke of luck--Phillipe
has escaped the hangman's noose. Never in his wildest imaginings did he
think he would someday break back inside Aquila...and become the hero of
a glorious quest.
Based on a 13th-century European legend, Ladyhawke is the enchanted
story of a porcelain-skinned beauty (Michelle Pfeiffer), a stalwart, black-shrouded
knight (Rutger Hauer)...and The Mouse. Once the knight and the lady were
lovers. Now the demonic curse of the jealous Bishop of Aquila (John Wood)
has fated them to be "always together, eternally apart." By day, she is
a hawk; by night, he is a wolf. Only as night turns into day can they share
a sorrowful glimpse of what they once had been.
For two years the anguished knight has roamed the countryside, seeking
a way to break into the Bishop's stronghold and end the evil spell--or
die in the attempt. Then he learns of The Mouse's miraculous escape and
uses a little unknightly persuasion to convince Phillipe that what gets
out must--somehow--be able to get back in!
